One Song, Many Voices
I have a dream... symbolizing an end as well as a beginning, signifying renewal as well as change. We have enough people who tell it like it is— now we could use a few who tell it like it can be; for the dreamers are the saviors of the world, and surely a man’s reach should exceed his grasp— or what’s a heaven for, if not for you?
The time has come to hold your head high, stick your chest out— you can make it, even if it gets dark sometimes; and though morning has been all night coming, you must do the thing you think you cannot do. Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right; although the glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time you fall.
As an irrigator guides water to his fields, as an archer aims an arrow, as a carpenter carves wood, the wise shape their lives— choosing to create out of the materials of the human spirit something which did not exist before. And as you are the creator and selector of your thoughts, you must dream lofty dreams— and as you dream, so shall you become—for evermore.
There are no shortcuts to any place worth going; so as you journey in the fields of forever, be aware that the best way out is through. We have to keep transforming ourselves to become who we ought to be; so be here now, dare yourself to think bigger— because your thoughts are the architects of your destiny.
Walk closest to those who truly inspire you— it is the more fascinating journey and very, very good for the soul. Don’t hurry, don’t worry— you are only here for a short visit, so be sure to stop and smell the flowers.
Remember... just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly, as will you...
We can be free! We can learn to fly! Live your love, trust your joy— stand up and say your name; be the change you wish to see in the world.
